Samhain 2016

ADF Northwest Newsletter

From the Regional Druid

Greetings everyone,

The season of Samhain is upon us. It is the season of change, the time of honoring the Ancestors, the beginning and the end. In some cultures, it is the start of the new year. It is with this in mind that I am stepping down as Northwest Regional Druid on November 1.

It has been a very fulfilling journey as RD the past year and a half, and I’m very proud to have served. We experienced growth in both members and groups. I’ve had the pleasure to meet many good people up and down the region, and we saw the restart of the Eight Winds Festival.

My deputy, Victoria Selnes, will assume the role of Regional Druid for the remainder of my term. She is an amazing, capable leader and she possesses the skills to do a great job. You’ve seen her work already with the newsletter and our website, and I’m certain you’ll see a continuance of her great ideas. We are lucky to have her.

There gets to be a time when new leaders can step up and take on roles within our organization. I have another year and a half on the Mother Grove, Preceptor of the Order of Manannan, and ADF Social Media Manager, so I have my plate full. I’m also going to put more focus on my duties as a priest. On top of that I’m still one of the leads for our Pantheacon suite.

Thank you to all of you for having the faith in me to be your Regional Druid

From the Editor

Greetings Druids of the NorthWest Region,

I’d like to thank Rev. Sean Harbaugh for his tireless service to this region and to ADF as a whole. Sean’s done a great job with the region in the last few years – with Eight Winds, Pantheacon and new Protogroves it’s been quite a year and a half!

I hope that I can do as good a job in the next few months before the election. If you need anything, please feel free to contact me directly at Every member of the Northwest Region is welcome to contact me – Grove leaders, Solitaries and Grove members alike.

I’d also like to share this bit of poetry from Rowana the Druid of the Excalibur Publications Newsletter:

May your spirit hear the call from your ancestors
And feel the knowledge coursing through your blood.
May you ever know the roots you carry in your soul;
You are an oak among people – stand strong as One!
Feel the veil draw back and welcome those gone before
Who stand ready to lend strength to you in life.
Be quick to call them to your side when needed;
They will answer with warriors’ roar in every strife!

If you’d like to add anything to the newsletter, or if you have suggestions of things that you’d like to see in this newsletter, please let us know at

May the blessings of the Kindreds be with you!

Pantheacon is coming up in February, 2017! If you’re in the area and have a chance to attend, I highly recommend it – even coming for a day is awesome.

We are currently accepting Workshop submissions for Pantheacon!
Submissions are due by Nov 10th, and need to include a summary of your workshop, and the name you’d like credited.  Workshops must be inclusive of all individuals, and appropriate for mixed ADF/non-ADF audiences.
Help us raise funds for the Suite!
The ADF Hospitality Suite is fully funded by you, the attendees!  We raise funds before the event through our GoFundMe campaign ( and the raffle on-site.
Please consider contributing to one or both of these fundraisers.
