Winter Solstice 2017

ADF Northwest Newsletter

From the Regional Druid

Happy Winter Solstice to you all!

Another year is almost over, and we’re in the middle of the winter holidays and getting ready for the New Year. There’s so much going on, and sometimes we have to deal with individuals that we’d rather not interact with. As we go through these times, remember to breathe. Taking a moment to focus on your breath can do amazing things to help make a rough, or stressful, situation just a little better. It doesn’t fix the issues, but it can help us to deal with them.  So take a breath, take a moment, and remember that you are worth it.

I recently had a lot of opportunities to take a breath and to take a moment. I spent 3 days with my husband in the hospital – he was the one in the bed. The image in the header is from the Healing Garden at the hospital, and it’s a good reminder for us to remember that there can always be hope for a better situation.

This is also a great time for giving back to your community. I invite you to look around and see where you can help locally. Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spare, perhaps you have time. There’s a lot of different charities that need help this time of year. Around here, for instance, the Second Harvest food bank has days where you can volunteer to come in and help sort food. You can also support the organizations that you are a part of. You don’t even have to spend any extra money for it! Many non-profit organizations – including ADF – participate in Amazon’s AmazonSmile program. You sign up for the program, and the organization that you select will get a small percentage of everything you spend on Amazon at no cost to you. You would be most welcome to join me in supporting ADF through this program.

Blessings of the Kindreds to you and yours,

Victoria S (Leona Oigheag)
